LIVERPOOL striker Mo Salah visited New Brighton for a promotional video just a week after a charity single in his name was released for brave three-year-old Edie Molyneux.

Based on The Archie’s hit Sugar Sugar, comedian Richy Sheehy (Kevin Murphy) went viral when he uploaded a video of his fan song ‘We’ve Got Salah’.

After live appearances Richy teamed up with Wirral musician Marc Kenny and his label Slide Away Records to release the track as a charity single for The Spider-Ede Appeal.

On Wednesday Marc managed to meet Mo Salah in New Brighton while he was filming for Egyptian television.

Marc told the footballing star about the charity single and handed him a poster for The Spider-Ede Appeal.

Marc told the Globe: “I met Richy Sheehy (aka Kevin Murphy) while singing at Anfield last month.

“It was only a few days after his viral video he put online of him singing ‘We’ve Got Salah’ in his bedroom.

“We got on stage and we performed an acoustic version of ‘We’ve Got Salah’.

“Someone filmed it and the reaction to the video all around the world was incredible so I text him and said we need to release this.

“I have a record label and a recording studio so have the perfect platform to do it.

“Richy agreed to do it on the condition it was for a local charity. I’m already doing loads of events for Spider-Ede Appeal so it was the perfect choice.

“I met Mo Salah on the beach while he was filming in New Brighton and told him the song has been released for charity passing him a poster with all the info for Spider-Ede.

“He was lovely and genuine, happy to pose for photographs and chats although his minder wasn’t too impressed!

“Since the track was released last week it has flagged up in charts all over the world including No. 1 in Bulgaria, No.20 in Ireland, No.21 in Hong Kong and No.77 in UK.”

Edie from Tranmere was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour last year and travelled to Mexico in January to receive ground-breaking IA chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment.

So far £112,410 of the £700,000 target has been raised.
