A man is scheduled to apear in court this morning after a stabbing in Wallasey in the early hours of Sunday.

Patrols were called to Green Lane at around 2.20am to a report of 19-year-old man having been stabbed in the neck.

Officers arrested Mark Atherton, aged 34, of Marshlands Road, Wallasey Village.

The victim was taken to hospital where his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Atherton has since been charged with assault, stalking, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been kept in custody to appear in court this morning.
