A WIRRAL teenager has completed a run across one of Germany’s longest bridges to raise cash for those who have helped him.

Keen fundraiser Oliver Bratley, 14, from Birkenhead has ADHD and ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder).

On October 3 he ran 12.3km of The Köhlbrand Bridge in the docklands of Hamburg to raise cash for Merseyside Autistic Children’s Society (MACS).

Oliver took part in the 'Köhlbrandbrückenaluf' which allows runners to travel over the usually pedestrian-restricted bridge and experience a panorama over the port of Hamburg.

When he returned, Oliver handed over a cheque of £382.50 staff at the MACS shop in Wallasey.

Oliver’s dad, Nigel told the Globe: “I am very proud of Oliver's fundraising efforts for MACS.

“In the past three years he has raised almost £800 from running events.

“He looks forward to being able to raise more money and raise the profile of MACS to help other families that do not know that their help is available.

“He said he wanted to raise money for MACS because of all the things they have done for him in the past few years such as swimming sessions and days out with other families and wants other families to continue enjoying these things.”

MACS is a local charity run by volunteers who aim to help to children with autism and related social communication difficulties so that they can achieve their full potential in life.
