A 14-foot python has died after a blaze at a house in Birkenhead.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue service were called to Whetstone Lane at around 7am on Tuesday following reports of a fire in the attic of a house.
Firefighters discovered that a light in a snake vivarium was involved in the fire.
Crews discovered that a python had died as a result of the fire.
There were no other injuries.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the flames.
A home fire safety check was carried out and crews fitted two additional alarms.
