A 29-year-old man has suffered serious injuries after being trapped under a HGV at Twelve Quays Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead.
Emergency services were called at around 6.40pm on Sunday after reports of a man being trapped under a van that was disembarking the Stena Lagan ferry - the ferry that operates between Birkenhead and Belfast.
The man was taken to hospital were he is being treated for head, chest and back injuries.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services were in attendance at Twelve Quays Ferry Terminal in Birkenhead after a serious incident.
“Shortly before 6.45pm on Sunday, September 17, a report was received that a 29-year-old man was trapped underneath an HGV.
“Port of Liverpool Police, Merseyside Police, North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have attended and the man has been taken to hospital with head, chest and back injuries which are being assessed.”
