WIRRAL-born celebrity chef and TV presenter and Simon Rimmer is among the line-up at this year's Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

Simon - set to appear in the forthcoming new series of Strictly Come Dancing - will join fellow TV cooks The Hairy Bikers, Gizzi Erskine, Nisha Katona, Paul Askew, Gary Usher, Aiden Byrne, Anton Piotrowski and Anjula Devi giving demonstrations and masterclasses during the event in Sefton Park on September 16 and 17.

There will be street food stalls, a producers' market, a gin garden, a prosecco bar and live entertainment throughout the festival including live music by regular guest John O'Connell.

Merseyside experts will be giving tips and advice throughout the day with demonstrations from Izakaya, Red’s True Barbecue, Pho, Tandoori and The Alchemist.

There will also be plenty to keep budding young foodies entertained at a dedicated kids’ zone, which includes children’s cookery workshops, biscuit decorating, pizza making and a food themed science lab, which will be overflowing with fascinating foodie experiments.

Younger visitors can also enjoy victorian fairground rides and activities such as hook a duck and a coconut shy, as well as traditional pick ’n’ mix and churros.

Isabella Kantor said: "We're absolutely thrilled to be celebrating 10 years of Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

"Merseyside's food and drink scene is better than ever and that is definitely reflected in this year's 10th anniversary event.

"As the final preparations get underway, we are hugely excited about welcoming visitors to the event.

"There will be plenty to enjoy during the weekend, from making the most of the celebrity chef demos and family fun to simply just soaking up the atmosphere and eating your way around the festival."

To mark Liverpool Food and Drink Festival's 10th birthday, there will be a special preview event in a boho-themed marquee in Sefton Park on Friday, September 15, featuring music from iconic indie band Lightning Seeds and an Asian-style banquet from Gizzi Erskine.
