WIRRAL'S talented musicians have been showcasing their talent at Pyramids Shopping Centre for a series of 'Summer Sessions'.

The talent showcase is in full swing with budding and professional performers including singing sensations, dynamic dancers, magnificent magicians, local theatre groups and more wowing crowds of visitors with fantastic free entertainment at various locations across the centre.

One of the first to step up to the mic was eight-year-old Lenny Doody, who impressed with a confident performance of Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran.

The Birkenhead boy wonder has long been impressing everyone from locals to international hit-makers with his talents and two years ago performed with songstress Rita Ora at the Radio City Summer Live event in Liverpool.

Lenny, who has been singing since the age of three and has a strong love of music, said: “I was a bit nervous before my performance at Pyramids, but I loved it as singing makes me feel happy and alive.

"I want to be as big as Eminem, Ed Sheeran or Justin Beiber.”

Belting out a soulful rendition of the Bruno Mars chart-topper, Uptown Funk, was X-Factor contestant 23-year-old Kirsty Murphy.

Due to popular demand Kirsty will be back on Friday, 25 August at the centre’s bandstand for an encore.

Centre director at Pyramids Derek Millar said: “It has been absolutely brilliant to welcome so much great talent to the Pyramids’ stage.

“It may not be the same size as the similarly named performance space at Glastonbury, but it has been a big hit with locals and the atmosphere has been fantastic.

"Our shoppers have been loving seeing the performers having fun and giving it their all."

Other acts have so far included a steel band, street theatre and Liverpool’s country singer Steve Tempo.

Locals on a shopping day out can see superstars in the making all summer, with entertainment running almost daily until Saturday, September 2.

Still to come is singer and guitarist Jenny Willow on Wednesday, August 23 and theatre performances from the Baad Mother Funkas and Liver Cottage on 24 and 27 respectively.

On Thursday, August 31 The Hive Youth Zone will entertain audiences with some energetic dance routines.

Derek added: “Birkenhead is teeming with talented people of all ages and we’re proud to be able to give them this opportunity to show their skills in front of a large audience.

“With a variety of acts on the bill, there’s something for everyone and we also have drop-in arts and craft activities, which are also free.

"‘Summer Sessions’ is a wonderful event for the holidays and we hope to see lots of people coming out to show their support of our local talent.”
