THE manager of a computer sales and repair shop in Wallasey says it's business as usual following a fire in a flat above the premises.

Jack Turner from Proper Geeks wanted to reassure our readers following the blaze at a property on Leasowe Road, Wallasey at around 5pm on Wednesday.

He told the Globe: "I just want to get the message across that the shop wasn’t affected by the fire at all and is, very much open for business.

"The flat is owned by the shop owner, and is, but the shop is unaffected and we are open for business as.

"Everyone is ok though."

Three fire engines attended the incident and crews wearing breathing apparatus used high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire.

A study room and the first floor landing of the property were damaged by fire. A bathroom and utility room sustained heat and smoke damage.

The attic space and remainder of the property was damaged by smoke.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around two hours.

An investigation concluded the fire started had started by accident, caused by a suspected electrical fault.
