HOYLAKE Lifeboat crew went to the aid of a boat that was stranded on a stormy River Mersey last night.
The station's Shannon-class lifeboat 'Edmund Hawthorn Micklewood' was alerted by the coastguard just before midnight that a 15m motor vessel "Venom" was having engine difficulties near the coast off New Brighton.
The lifeboat was launched into the gale at and escorted 'Venom' to the Liverpool landing stage.
Once the vessel was safely moored up, the lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for service at 4am.
