TRANMERE Rovers face newly-relegated Southport in a derby at Prenton Park, their final home game of the regular league season, on Saturday.

Micky Mellon's squad, currently second on the table, go into tomorrow's game after a 2-1 win away against Guiseley on Easter Monday.

Southport were confirmed as relegated into the National League North last weekend, but showed how dangerous they can be with a 2-0 victory over Forest Green Rovers on Monday.

In an interview on Rovers' website, Mellon said it was business as usual for his players, adding: "I've said many times that we're Tranmere and we're expected to win, so we'll just continue trying to do that game by game, nothing changes.

"The lads have done great.

"The standards have been set and we have to keep meeting them and winning games of football".

Southport's fate has already been sealed, but Mellon knows they are more than capable of producing a result so are wary of the threat Andy Preece's team will pose.

He added: "Southport beating Forest Green Rovers on Monday shows you what this league is like.

"It can be so unpredictable, the challenges are so different and can be very difficult all the time."

The manager paid praise to the fans who have shown fantastic support all season long.

"The atmosphere at Prenton Park is fantastic, as good as it has been since I've been involved at the Club, so I look forward to being there all the time because it's a good place to go and play football.

"The fans are delivering on what they should be doing and that's creating a brilliant atmosphere so it's a good place to go right now".

Mellon confirmed that midfielder Lois Maynard will miss tomorrow's game with a calf injury. It is hoped he will return to training early next week.

Long term absentees Ben Tollitt, Jake Kirby, Jay Harris and Darren Stephenson remain absent, while Ritchie Sutton and Steven Jennings will also miss out through injury.
