A FAMILY of 35 French travellers has moved onto the car park of a Wirral railway station overnight.
Around eight caravans are currently occupying part of the site at Conway Park in Birkenhead.
The group, who are from Strasbourg, say they are on their way to Glasgow and have parked up in Birkenhead while a broken down car is repaired.
They plan to be in town for a week.
Among the family is Carlos Luciano. He told the Globe: "Hopefully we may not be here that long and will move on as soon as the car is repaired.
"We are not here to cause any problems. We are not bad people, it's a nice area."
A spokesperson for Wirral Council told the Globe: "The site is on council owned land next to the Conway Park railway station.
"Staff will visit the site later today and engage with the travellers.
"We will then assess what further action needs to be taken once we have spoken with them".
