A man has been charged after an attempted robbery at a newsagent’s in Moreton.
Michael Birchall, 34, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the attempted robbery of Laksa M News and Wine and causing actual bodily harm (ABH) to a worker who was taken to hospital after the incident.
He will appear before Wirral Magistrates Court today.
Officers were called to Laska M News and Wine on Hoylake Road at around 6.20pm, on Sunday, after a would-be robber entered the store and demanded cash.
A member of staff suffered a facial injury as he tried to stop the raider, who fled empty-handed.
House-to-house inquiries were carried out along with forensic examinations.
