FURTHER to comments regarding train drivers and guards on trains.
For health and safety reasons for passengers and the driver we cannot expect the driver to 100% look up and down the train before closing the doors.
I had an experience at Liverpool central Station – standing to my left there was a guard on the platform, a train was approaching and a man further down was standing in front of the yellow line.
The guard immediately sent someone to stand by him.
In my opinion, if it was down to the train driver, he would have jumped or fallen on the line.
Surely those responsibilities should be shared with a guard on the train.
A concerned passenger of Merseyrail trains.
