A Wallasey pageant star needs your help to become Miss Galaxy UK for the second time under the Wirral Peninsula title.

Beth Greenham, 27, from Wallasey has been competing in pageants for ten years and has won titles such as Miss New Brighton and Miss Grand England.

Beginning in 2008 the competition has grown at a fast rate with no height or weight restrictions and categories for women who are mothers or married.

Five women from the UK team have gone on to win Galaxy international crowns.

Beth told the Globe: “I suppose this is my last competition so my last chance to win because of my age. There are other categories in some competitions for over 30s and married but I think I want this to be my cut off point.

“I’ve already won Miss Galaxy UK before but I was representing Chester and that was before it had as big a presence that it does now. After the competition has grown I can now qualify in another area so I’m now representing my home borough. If I win this, I will go on to Miss Galaxy International in Florida for my last chance at winning the Miss Galaxy International title.”

Out of all the categories such as Mrs Galaxy UK, Miss Teen Galaxy and Miss Galaxy available in the UK nine winners are sent to compete in Florida at the Galaxy International Pageant.

She added: “I have a degree in Maths and I feel that people do think you’re not as intelligent as you could be if you’re in a pageant but that’s simply not the case. Many girls enter pageants to raise awareness and support personal charities and causes on a national platform which gives them a voice.

“The confidence you get from doing something like this is extraordinary too, you feel as if you can do anything.”

Along with competing, the women take part in a lot of charity work – Beth recently made a visit to the Dogs Trust centre in Huyton taking food, toys, blankets and dog-friendly pigs in blankets so the animals could enjoy them for Christmas.

“We all do a lot of charity work and support the Christie Cancer charity based in Manchester however we’re not limited and we can support anything that we want to. This adds a different dynamic to competing six and seven months exciting and busy schedule and you feel very rewarded and that you have made a difference.”
