PUPILS and staff from a Wirral primary school dressed as characters including Willy Wonka and The BFG to celebrate the 100th birthday of their creator Roald Dahl.
Park Primary School in Wallasey celebrated the landmark day with their own 'Dahlicious Dress Up Day', raising £194 for the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children's Charity at the same time.
They also dressed as characters including Fantastic Mr Fox and a host of Oompa-Loompas.

They also learned about the world famous author of children’s classics including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, James and the Giant Peach and Matilda.
The school also watched the Puffin Live broadcast alongside thousands of school children around the country, with performances from Matilda the musical and an interview with illustrator Quentin Blake whose inimitable artwork appears in many collections of Roald Dahl's works.
Headteacher Michael Mellin said: "It was wonderful for the school children to be able to take part in this national event to remember and learn more about Roald Dahl.
"All of our children have the opportunity to read for pleasure every day, and the event has helped to inspire the children’s love of all things Dahl.

"We even had a message from a parent thanking everyone at the school for inspiring reading and creativity, and saying homework never felt so good!"
