THERE is less than a month to go until the 23rd annual Hoylake 10k Coastal charity fun run.

Taking place on Sunday, September 25, the Globe-backed event raises funds for a special needs club in the town.

It starts outside Hoylake Community Centre in Hoyle Road at 11am and hundreds are expected to take part.

Proceeds go to the Wednesday Special Needs Club’s Soft Play Sensory Resource.

A giant flea market will be held at Hulme Hall in Port Sunlight this Sunday, September 4 from 8.30am til 2.30pm. There will be a small admission charge for visitors.

Neighbourhood picnic

There's a neighbourhood picnic at Victoria Gardens in West Kirby this Saturday afternoon.

Organised by Friends of Victoria Gardens, it will feature a bouncy castle, donkey rides, raffle, cakes, produce and bowls. It is on from 12-4pm.

Village walk

Globe readers are invited to take part in a walk through West Kirby's old village as part of world heritage day next Wednesday, September 7.

It is a one mile circular walk through the old centre - once a bustling community with farms, shops, and some 17th Century buildings.

Talking cars

Rolph Vestrum will give a talk entitled Racing the Classics - a Golden era of Motorbike racing in the '70s at St Hildeburgh’s Church Centre in Hoylake next Wednesday, September 7.

Heritage open day

Prenton United Reformed Church will throw open its doors to the public next Wednesday, September 7, in an event marking Wirral heritage day.

The venue, on the corner of Storeton Road and Prenton Road West will be open between 9am and midday. There is disabled access and light refreshments.

Rock 'n' roll

Mike Byrne and the Sunrockers will rock the night away at Heswall British Legion next Wednesday, September 7.

Chris Davies will be Hoylake & District Gardening Society's special guest when it meets later this month.

Photographer and bird enthusiast William Boyce will be Wirral RSPB's guest when it meets tonight Thursday, September 1.
