A BIRKENHEAD pop-up shop will be giving out nearly two thousand free school uniforms.

The pop-up shop run by Petra Dye-Davies from the Oxton Gateway Project which has been open since April has confirmed it has extended its plans to remain open throughout August.

Located at Pyramids Shopping Centre, it works to support any families in need.

Petra said: “We are delighted we have been able to support 400 families in Birkenhead so far and we’re equally grateful for all the donations we receive.

“We would like to invite any families in need of school uniforms to visit us, and also bring their old ones so they can be recycled.

“The support from the centre and Frank Field MP has been spectacular and we would like to say a huge thank you.”

The shop stocks uniforms from 11 primary schools and two senior schools in Birkenhead as well as unlabelled school wear.

Derek Millar, commercial director at the Pyramids, said: “The Oxton Gateway Project’s free school uniform initiative is brilliant and we are pleased to be able to offer our support.

“The project benefits the whole community and we hope our shoppers continue to utilise the offering.”

Uniforms can also be recycled in blue tubs at selected schools, The Conway Centre or dropped off at the pop-up shop.
