A 19-year-old Neston man has been jailed following a brawl during the town’s Ladies Day event last month.
Joel Smith was seen on CCTV footage running up to and assaulting another male between Parkgate Road and High Street at around 8.30pm on June 2.
Smith appeared at Chester Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to charges of affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The victim was punched and kicked three times, resulting in a cut to his right eye and bruising to his left eye. He also suffered cuts and grazes to his knees and pain from where he had been hit.
Smith was arrested at the scene of the incident and was later charged on June 5.
Yesterday, he was sentenced to a 16-month prison sentence for his role in the incident, which can be seen in photographs as taking place in front of young children.
