A WIRRAL man has been left shocked after three tyres of his van, which he uses to help Claire House Children's Hospice, were slashed on Wednesday evening.

Ray Redmond, who lives in Bebington only noticed the damage to his van, which he had used the previous weekend for the Claire House Cup tournament, when he was taking his children to school the next morning.

CCTV footage given to the Globe shows an unidentified person slashing a front and back tyre with an unknown item at around 11pm.

The offender then returns later in the evening and deflates a third tyre.

33-year-old Ray said: “I’m disgusted that someone would do this.

“I’m quite baffled as to why someone has targeted the van we have never upset anyone in the area.

“Whoever it is seems to be quite determined to make sure the tyres are ruined.”

The footage was captured on a neighbours CCTV camera.

The video which was originally shared on Facebook has now been viewed more than 2,000 times.

Ray, who had volunteered to help organise the football tournament in memory of Elliot Wild and raised thousands for Claire House, added in the six years they have lived in the area they have never had any problems.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm we have had reports of criminal damage from the victim.

“Unfortunately the CCTV does not show the face of the person who did this, however if anyone remembers anything or saw anyone acting suspicious in the area, we would be keen to speak to them.”

“Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
