A WEST KIRBY shop is set to feature on BBC’s celebrity antiques road trip.

Desdemona Postlethwaite Antiques of Banks Road will appear on the popular programme when it airs later this year.

Staff were visited earlier this month by TV presenter Lynn Faulds Wood and Antiques expert Thomas Plant who spent four hours browsing their collections.

Owner Pat Gray opened the shop three years ago and has been delighted with the response she has received from customers both locally and from all over the Wirral and Merseyside.

She said: “We try to specialise in good quality antiques and collectables, from Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian pieces to Kitchenalia, Vintage and Jewellery items.

“I’m delighted that people seem to enjoy looking at the wide range of pieces in the shop before selecting the perfect item for their home or as a gift.”

In the programme, presenter Lynn is in competition with husband John Stapleton and was keen to select pieces which would sell well at auction.

Lynn and Thomas selected four pieces from Desdemona Postlethwaite Antiques.

The pieces were an Edwardian Art Nouveau Gold & Peridot Necklace, an Indian silver circular dish, an oil on board painting in gilt frame depicting 'Infant Hercules strangling serpents in his cradle' after Sir Joshua Reynolds, and Thomas’ favourite – a treen spade.

Desdemona Postlethwaite Antiques also have units at the well-known Bygone Times Antique Centre in Eccleston, near Chorley and also have their own web site.

See how well the items did at auction when the new series starts on BBC2 TV in September.
