MORE than 1,000 friends, family members and fans of Viola Beach are to celebrate the band member’s lives at a tribute night on April 2.
The evening will be hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and will be held at the Parr Hall where they were due to play their biggest headline show in October.
It is hoped that the event will be an upbeat celebration of the Warrington band’s music and lives with all funds going to their families and manager Craig Tarry’s family.
Details of the line-up are yet to be revealed but it will feature "friends, bands they have played with, influences and peers from across the country."
Kris Leonard, Jack Dakin, Tom Lowe and River Reeves and their manager Craig Tarry died when their car plunged more than 82ft from a road bridge into a canal near Stockholm in Sweden on February 13.
They were in the country for their first overseas gig.
Chris Persoglio, venue and events manager, worked with Craig to book their gigs at the Pyramid on March 12 and Parr Hall on October 1.
He said: “We were deeply saddened and shocked to hear about the tragic road accident in Sweden.
“Having worked with Craig for many years and with the lads from the band on the Warrington Festival bill last year, we’ve been keen to hold a tribute.
“As such, we are working with the team at SJM Concerts to host a night to remember the lads properly and to help raise as much as possible for the families between us.
“This will be a very special evening and a time for the fans and friends to come together to celebrate the lives and music of the band in the best way we possibly can, in their hometown.”
