CONSISTENT performers Chester Nomads continued their impressive winning sequence and assumed pole position in the race for the Carlsberg West Cheshire League’s Division One title.

A solitary strike from long- serving player Dale Harris, secured maximum spoils in a 1-0 win over Cammell Laird 1907 Reserves which saw the Chester outfit leapfrog previous leaders Vauxhall Motors into top spot.

Motors were second best in their local derby with Capenhurst Villa and despite taking the lead after the interval through Hedi Bensadoun, it was Cape who took the honours after replies from Tom Edwards, Ryan Nicoll and Tom Wainwright sealed a 3-1 result.

Upton AA climbed into sixth place when a Lee Guiardo double was supplemented by further efforts from Rich Litchfield and Luke Finch in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat of Mossley Hill Athletic.

But 90 minutes failed to produce a goal between relegation strugglers Blacon YC and Heswall.

Matty Johnson and Adam Collins obliged for bottom club Helsby, but again it wasn’t their day after visitors Rainhill Town profited 3-2 courtesy of goals from Tyler Jeffries (2) and Sam Gifford.

A Martin Wilson effort for Southport Trinity was cancelled out by a response from Hale Reserves’ Jimmy Eves, which cost the latter the chance to go 15 points clear at the top of Division Two.
