A WIRRAL bride-to-be says she is on “cloud nine” after generous fundraisers helped to raise enough money to make her terminally ill mum’s dying wish come true.

Pauline Gibbons has been diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer.

The 65-year-old has just one wish – to see her 23-year-old daughter Mandi marry partner Neil Fisher in the white wedding she never had.

Mandi, from Leasowe, set up an online fundraising page to help make the dream of reality, with dozens of offers flooding in from well-wishers, including the loan of a wedding dress, flowers and cake.

The wedding has been booked to take place at St Oswald’s Church in Bidston in October and is fast becoming a reality.

Just £600 stood between them and their dreams until staff at Tesco in Bidston Moss decided they too wanted to do their bit to help.

Community champion Debbie Layfield organised a car boot sale in Pauline’s honour.

The fundraiser, which took place on Sunday, raised an impressive £750 –more than enough to cover the cost of the church.

Mandi said: “It’s all going ahead. We’ve just got the final bits to go and get like shoes and bits and bobs.

“I am so excited – I am on cloud nine. My mum’s really unwell but this amazing support is lifting us all.

“Thank you to Debbie and all the team at Tesco and everyone for their kind donations and support.”

Among those helping to make Pauline and Mandi’s dreams come true is the Honey Rose Foundation, who are paying for the suits, flowers and balloons.

Photography company Squashed Apple Brides have offered their services for free, as have A2B Limousines.

“Mum said her biggest fear is not to see her children get married and I said I wish I could make that happen – it’s my fear my mum not being there too.

“This would really make her dream come true this would be an amazing day for all the family to make memories and take lots of pictures with her.”

Mandi has been overwhelmed by the level of support she and Pauline have received.

All that needs to be paid for now is the dressing of the wedding.

“Other than that we are good to go – all booked,” said Mandi.

“I don't want to come across cheeky asking for this, I'm just asking if anyone can help us even in a small way.

“This is my only chance to make this happen and this means the absolute world to her and me.”
