YOUNG dancers from a Wirral performing arts school had a lot to celebrate after winning a haul of eleven trophies in the semi-final heats of a regional competition.

The 41 talented youngsters from Complete Works Performance School in Port Sunlight took part in the heats for That's Showbiz 2015 at Ellesmere Port Civic Centre. They competed in seven routines and won a host of awards, including two of the three adjudicator’s choice awards.

Their success means they have secured a spot in the grand final, which will be taking place at Blackpool Opera House in January 2016, competing with many other schools from around the country.

Principals Victoria Charlton and Kim McDonald said: “We always ask our students to give their all, work hard, perform to the best of their ability, support the other schools but most importantly – have fun.

"But they really wanted these trophies.

"It was a joy to watch them receive all their prizes and we are so proud of them all.”

Schools and community groups from Wirral West have taken part in a fun, foodie event to celebrate the area’s parks and open spaces.

Funded by Wirral West Constituency Committee, the team worked with the council’s eco schools team and parks and countryside service to organise the event, which took place at Thurstaston.
