CHILDREN about to make their journey to big school will have a lasting memory of their time at West Kirby Primary thanks to a creative project which has seen a selection of their work published.

Year six pupils at the school all have one example of their creative writing included in the All Write Now book.

Charles Lea, from West Kirby, is the man behind the project.

He said: "The idea is to publish some of the creative writing which children do in school into an anthology.

"The objective is to have "all" the children contribute rather than a few. We feel that they will all feel very proud and excited to be published writers."

Pupils were presented with their own copy of the book on their last day of term, with a copy also presented to West Kirby Library.

Charles said: "We feel that this is an important part of the project. As well as seeing their book on a library shelf it should help further the community bond between the child, the school and the local library.

"I believe the children will love to know a copy of their book will be kept in the library for others to read, and it gives visitors to our libraries a real sense of our community.

"I think the children, their parents and carers and teachers will love to see examples of all the children's writing in a book which can be kept."

All Write Now works with schools directly to create similar projects for a variety of occasions, including Christmas, World Book Day or to raise funds for specific school items.
