DISCOUNT shopping chain B&M is to open a new store in Bromborough later this month creating 70 jobs.

The retailer’s Home Store & Garden Centre will be at the former Homebase site on Teebay Road, and will be serving its first customers from next Friday, July 17.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be undertaken by representatives from Wirral's Claire House Hospice, who will be joined by Wirral’s deputy mayor and mayoress councillor Pat and Elaine Hackett.

Peter Hughes, store manager, said: “B&M is committed to recruiting from the local area and I am delighted we’ve found a great team from in and around Bromborough.

“We’re really proud to be creating 70 jobs this year and playing our part in the local community.”

Amanda Mitchell, area manager for Claire House, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the new store opening.

“Claire House gives care, support and choice to families when their child is not expected to live till adulthood and support from businesses like B&M means we can raise much needed funds to continue our services.”

The hospice was nominated by store staff themselves and will receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank-you for performing the opening honours.

A team of Claire House volunteers will also be on hand to bag-pack for the first customers, hopefully raising further money for the cause.

Mr Hughes continued: “We're really excited to get the doors open next Friday and honoured to have representatives from the hospice alongside the deputy mayor cutting the ribbon to officially mark the occasion.”
