MORE than 100 people have taken part in a sponsored walk around Birkenhead Park to celebrate The Stroke Association's 30th anniversary.

Wirral stroke survivors, their families and supporters took part in the charity’s Step Out for Stroke event this morning.

The sponsored walk celebrates the achievements of stroke survivors as they walk alongside their friends and family, all while helping to raise vital funds for the Stroke Association.

The charity will then host refreshments in the pavilion, joined by their special guests and health professionals, former members of staff and supporters from the local area.

Volunteers who have supported the Stroke Association for over 20 years received a certificate and purple plant to thank them for their dedication.

Art work created by the group will be displayed, along with an exhibition of photos of past activities over the years.

Chris Larkin, regional head of operations at the Stroke Association, said: "Our services have long helped stroke survivors and their families come to terms with a life after stroke, with information, practical advice and emotional support.

"The anniversary event during Action on Stroke Month will bring everyone together to celebrate this fantastic milestone for our service."

The Stroke Association provides an information, advice and support service and communication Support, in partnership with Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group.
