A WIRRAL schoolgirl is preparing to say farewell to her long locks when she faces the big chop for children’s cancer charities.

Thirteen-year-old Thaila Barker has always cherished her long hair but on June 6, will say goodbye to 10 inches.

The Woodchurch High School pupil will then donate her hair to the Princess Trust, who provide wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.

She is also hoping to raise £350 for the charity.

Proud mum Allie said: “Thaila is a very quiet girl and she doesn’t think this is a big deal – in her words ‘I have all this hair and some people have none’.

“There is no reason for her to do this other than that she would like to help in some way – I am busting with pride at her thoughtfulness.”

Allie added: “Although the hair she donates will be made into a wig for free, there are still some that need to be bought and they cost £350 each so in addition to her donating at least 10 inches, she would like to raise enough to purchase one wig too.”
