WIRRAL cousins Myla-Rose and Demi Marie have more in common than most toddlers, with both celebrating their first birthday on Tuesday.

What makes their story even more remarkable is that they were born just 12 hours apart, both weighing 7lb 8oz.

They even took their first steps at the same time in March.

Inseparable siblings Stacey Taylor and Kayleigh Williams were both due to give birth to little girls on April 20 last year.

But after both went past their due date, it was a race against time to see who would go into labour first.

In the early hours of April 28, 24-year-old Stacey’s waters broke at her Birkenhead home, and at 5.57am, she welcomed Myla-Rose into the world.

“She had beaten her baby cousin into the world,” said Stacey, from Birkenhead.

But after announcing the birth, Stacey’s sister, 26-year-old Kayleigh, also went into labour.

Exactly 12 hours later, at 5.57pm, Demi Marie was born at Wirral Women and Children's Hospital, weighing 7lb 8oz just like her cousin.

Tuesday marked their first birthday, with proud mums Stacey and Kayleigh treating their little angels to an afternoon at Rascalz play centre in Woodchurch.

Mum-of-two Stacey said: “Not only were both our babies due the same day to begin with, but they were both born eight days overdue on April 28, both weighing 7lb 8oz.

“This past year has been amazing. They have both overcome their milestones together and grown into the best of friends."

The adorable toddlers also took their first steps together when they were both 10 months old in March.

Myla-Rose and Demi Marie are sure to be friends for life.

Happy Birthday girls!
