A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of assualting a police officer and driving under the influence of drugs following an incident in Wallasey last night.
Officers attempted to stop a car on Brighton Street at around 8.35pm on Wednesday.
The car stopped and then reversed, colliding with the front of the police car.
An officer in the police car was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.
No-one else was injured.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "A 20-year-old woman from Wavertree was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs and assaulting a police officer.
"She has been taken to a police station on Merseyside where she is being questioned by detectives."
Brighton Street and Tobin Street were closed for a short period of time while inquiries were carried out at the scene.
An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.
