After their recent national successes at the Famous National Shooting Centre at Bisley, Mostyn House School with the "Friends of Mostyn House" are presenting the Phoenix Shooters Association with funds to help them to construct a shooting range in the old school air-raid shelter - known as "The Dive."

The range will be named after Geoffrey Place who was the President of the Preparatory Schools Rifle Asscociation, but who sadly died recently.

This will give the school a facility to allow pupils to compete nationally - and who knows - Perhaps we might have a competitor for the forthcoming Olympics?

The Wirral Cultural Ambassador Mike McCartney was present to pass the cheque to Phoenix Shooters Association on behalf of the Friends of Mostyn House, who had worked so hard to raise funds for the project.

Mary Eveleigh, the Secretary of Phoenix - said "We still have a great deal of hard work to do to complete the range, but the support the Friends of Mostyn House have given us is vital - We'd like to thank the Friends, the school, and Mike for this - it's very encouraging after the bad press the sport has received over the past few years."
