A TEENAGER arrested on suspicion of assault after three people were fired upon with a paintball gun during separate incidents in Wirral has been bailed.

The 19-year-old, from Birkenhead, was taken into custody on Monday following an investigation into the incidents, which took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 10.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that the teen has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police had a report that men travelling close to Moreton Cross roundabout in a grey vehicle fired a paintball gun in the direction of a pedestrian.

At 2.30pm, a man riding a bicycle on Station Road in Barnston was also fired at and shortly after a report was received of a woman being struck with a paintball in Pensby Road, Heswall.

​No one was seriously injured during the incidents.

​​Officers conducted a search for the car and enquiries are on-going in the area.

​A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "Behaviour of this nature is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

"If you were struck by a paintball and have not yet contacted police, or saw a vehicle of this type acting suspiciously that day, then please get in touch with us.

​"An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is on-going.

​"I would urge anybody who saw anything suspicious to contact my officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."​​​​
