A STRANGER made inappropriate comments to three Wirral children before showing them "images" on his phone as they played in New Ferry.

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following the incident on Sunday.

At around 3pm, three children – two aged five and one aged four – were playing outside a property in New Ferry Road when the unknown male approached them.

He made inappropriate comments to the children and showed them "images" on his mobile phone before walking away.

The children reported the matter to one of their parents straight away, who then called the police.

A search of the area was carried out and enquiries are on-going in the area.

The man is white, tall of a slim build with brown hair.

He was wearing a black jumper, blue jeans and brown and white coloured Adidas trainers.

Detective Insp Paul Parry said: “This was an upsetting ordeal for these children and they did exactly the right thing and reports the incidents to an adult they knew and trusted.

“I would urge the man involved to make contact with us so we can discuss the incident with him to ascertain the full circumstances of what has happened.

“We are treating this report seriously and are very keen for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone with information to contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
