HOTEL giant Premier Inn has started recruiting staff for a new budget hotel in Birkenhead.
The 67-bedroom building, currently being built in the Crown Prosecution Service's former premises on Conway Street at a cost of just over £3.2million, is due to open on December 15.
Owners Whitebread Properties say the hotel will bring more than £2.5 million a year to the local economy and create 30 new jobs.
Part of the existing building has been removed, while the remainder is being retained and converted into hotel rooms.
Situated near the entrance to Queensway Tunnel it will feature a guest reception, restaurant with space for 64 tables and buffet.
The development was approved by Wirral's planning committee in 2012.
Joanne Byrne, general manager of the new hotel, said: "At Premier Inn we want to be able to offer our customers value for money wherever they plan on staying, even a prime location like Birkenhead.
"The hotel offers customers an abundance of nearby attractions and things to do in the area'
