DETECTIVES have released photographs of expensive and rare jewellery that was stolen during a burglary in Bromborough.

The gold necklaces, bracelets and precious “Tiger Eye” stones were taken along with the victim’s grandfather’s “Ebel” watch and a large amount of cash.

Burglars broke into the house in Bromborough while the occupier was abroad, stealing a safe containing the valuables from an upstairs bedroom.

The safe was found smashed open and empty on a secluded footpath in the Willaston area of Cheshire several weeks later.

A gardener at the house in Bromborough had reported the burglary to the police after discovering that a panel in the kitchen door had been smashed to gain entry.

Crime scene investigators examined the house and also the safe after it was found and an investigation into who committed the burglary and where the stolen valuables are remains ongoing.

Detective Inspector Racheal Wilson from Wirral CID said: "These items are very distinctive and should raise suspicion in anyone who is offered them for sale.

“The victim is understandably distraught as not only has her home been broken into, but much-treasured possessions which belonged to her and her family have been taken.

“These are high value pieces of gold and silver jewellery and rare stones so someone out there will have heard about this burglary and have information that could help us get them back.

“I would urge anyone who does have such information to do the right thing and call Crimestoppers to pass that information on."

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
