TRANMERE Rovers are aiming for a return to winning ways when they face Crewe in a crucial game at Prenton Park on Saturday.

Crewe beat MK Dons 2-0 in midweek and leapfrogged Rovers in the league table, taking them out of the relgation zone and up to 19th place, while Tranmere remain down in 22nd position.

Rovers manager Ronnie Moore says his players must set the tempo if they are to be in with a chance of victory.

He said: "It's about getting in front and not having to chase games.

"It would be nice if we can get in the lead and then ask them a question or two.

"It's about time we got back-to-back wins. We've got two home games coming up now, which can set the season up."

"I watched the MK Dons game and it could have gone either way.

"MK missed a penalty to make it 1-1 in the second-half, which would have made it interesting, but Crewe fought well.

"They're not the Crewe of old, there were a lot of long balls up to Aneke who is strong and they’ve got Leitch-Smith playing off him with a bit of pace."

Ronnie continued: "We're at home, and we've got to play at such a high tempo that they give.

"It's going to be tough. It doesn't matter who we're playing, we have to start winning games.

"We're at home and we need to win, it's a massive game for us.

"It's tight down there, if we win on Saturday we can go 16th."

Jake Cassidy has returned to Prenton Park following a three-month loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is the Welsh Under-21 international's third loan spell at the the club.

He said: "I came in on Monday morning and it felt like I'd never been away.

"That was a nice feeling.

"I know the lads and the club, and the gaffer and John McMahon know what I'm about so I think it will be easy to fit back in and kick on on Saturday."

Saturday's match is followed by a home game against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
