BUDDING performers across Wirral are invited to audition for a part in this year's Spotlight On Youth!

The annual charity showcase for talented young people will be staged at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton on Sunday, March 23.

Its organisers are appealing to singers, comedians, poets, dancers, bands – anyone with a talent in the performing arts – to come forward.

Open auditions will be held at the Civic Hall at Wallasey Town Hall in Brighton Street on January 28 and 29 from 5pm-9pm.

The show has been staged annually for more than 30 years and is always a sell-out.

Proceeds go to the Mayor of Wirral’s Special Charity Appeal which last year raised more than £3,000 for local good causes.

Mayor, Cllr Dave Mitchell, said: "This annual event has showcased the talents of many local youngsters while raising thousands of pounds for the Mayor of Wirral's Special Charity Appeal, which supports local charities.

"There is lots of talent out there, as we have seen during our many mayoral visits to schools and other organisations, and we are looking for young musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, sketch-performers, bands and more, as wide a variety of entertainment acts as possible.

"You will not only be taking part in a very enjoyable event, you will be raising money for charity."

The show will be compered by local entertainer Chris Jones, and as it is every year, will be professionally staged, giving young performers the chance to experience ‘treading the boards’ possibly for the first time.
