POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at a convenience store in Bebington.
Patrols were called by a member of staff to the Co-operative store on Church Road just before 7am, on Saturday, January 4.
A substantial quantity of cigarettes and tobacco had been stolen from the kiosk.
Investigators have forensically examined the scene and CCTV from the store and surrounding area is being reviewed.
Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale from Wirral CID said: "I want to reassure people we take retail crime extremely seriously and we are now conducting a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
"The offenders escaped with a number of different brands of cigarettes and tobacco and I would appeal to anyone in the area to get in touch if they are offered any items cheaply.
"I would also urge people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the store, or in the car park to the rear, between Friday evening and Saturday morning, to get in touch with us.
“Even if your information seems to be trivial, it could help us to arrest and convict the offenders."
Anyone with information should call Wirral CID on 0151 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
