ROVERS boss Ronnie Moore was full of praise for his side after their 1-1 draw at Preston North End.

Tranmere took the lead in the second half only for Joe Garner to equalise late in the game.

The manager said: "It was fantastic, they gave everything and that's all we ask of them. I can't fault them.

"They threw caution to the wind and bodies in there and one of our centre halves got caught flat footed and their lad put it in the back of the net which was soul destroying.

"We can build on it and we're out of the bottom four. We want to stay out of there.

"With the pace out wide I knew we'd give them problems and I thought Abs in the second half was fantastic. "Chris should get more goals, his finishing in training is unreal. Once he got in that position I fancied him.

"We thought Tom tired a little bit and we wanted to change it a bit because they'd put the number 11 on.

“I thought everything we did went to plan, we maybe just could have stopped the cross and if we'd done that we win the game.

"A point keeps us ticking over. There are one or two heads down but it was a fantastic performance.

Moore had named an unchanged starting line-up following their 3-2 win over MK Dons as both Danny Holmes and Tom Hateley recovered from injury.

Also back from injuries were Jason Mooney and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro who were both named among the substitutes alongside Antonie Boland who was involved in the squad for the first time.

Rovers started brightly and it needed a good save from Declan Rudd to keep out Baggie's fourth minute header from Holmes' right wing cross.

At the other end a cross from Scott Laird went straight through the Tranmere six-yard box while Owain Fon Williams kept out a long range shots from Iain Hume.

The seventh minute saw fans from both teams join in a minute's applause for Joe Thompson while Preston's big screen carried a message of support for the winger, who is being treated for nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease.

After dominating the early stages of the second half, Rovers took the lead with their first attack. Jake Kirby won the ball off Keith Keane deep in his own half and quickly found Max Power.

He raced into the Preston half and slipped the ball through to Chris Atkinson who controlled before curling a low shot past Rudd and into the bottom right corner from the edge of the area.

Rovers' first change saw Jason Koumas come on for Tom Hateley while Preston brought on Joe Garner and Stuart Beavon soon after.

The home side drew level on 90 minutes when a cross was met by Joe Garner and his header went inside the left hand post beyond the dive of Fon Williams.
