Wirral NHS walk-in centres pass care quality inspection
10:38am Friday 11th October 2013 in News
TWO of Wirral’s NHS walk-in centres have been given a clean bill of health following inspections by independent care watchdogs.
The Care Quality Commission reviewed centres at Eastham Clinic and Victoria Central in Liscard, and both passed all aspects of checks that essential standards of quality and safety were being met.
The commission carried out a routine inspection at the centre at Eastham Clinic, and an unannounced inspection at Victoria Central Health.
It also carried out a routine inspection of specialist dental services based at Arrowe Park Hospital on September 25.
The service is managed by Wirral Community NHS Trust, as are the walk-in centres.
The trust said feedback from the CQC was positive and highlighted remarks from inspectors received from patients, including "always been really happy with the service" and “the staff made me feel very calm and explained everything to me."
Sandra Christie, director of quality and nursing at the trust said: “The CQC inspection reports clearly highlight the tremendous work and high quality, safe services that staff provide to our patients.”
The trust operates three Wirral walk-in centres in which patients can seen by an experienced health professional within four hours. No appointment is necessary and those seeking help do not need to be registered with a local GP.
The centres are open 365-days-a-year and complement existing services offering patients access to treatment at weekends and evenings for urgent problems.
