Wirral man injured in lorry crash
3:18pm Tuesday 12th February 2013 in News
A WIRRAL man is in a serious but stable condition after a crash between a lorry and a van near Middlewich.
Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to free a 55-year-old driver from a van which had been exiting a storage site when it was in collision with a lorry travelling from Northwich towards Middlewich.
The man from Upton suffered head, chest and spinal injuries.
Four fire crews and five ambulances were sent to the scene just before 6pm last Tuesday, including North West Ambulance Service’s specialist hazardous area response team.
The van driver was taken to Leighton Hospital and then transferred to North Staffordshire Hospital.
The lorry driver, a 51-year-old man from Ellesmere Port, was taken to Leighton to be treated for minor injuries.
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 744 of February 5.
