A WIRRAL pensioner was taken to hospital following a crash this morning.

The incident happened at around 11.05am in Liscard Crescent, Wallasey when an Arriva bus and a black Renault Clio collided.

The 85-year-old woman driver of the car was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital and police have closed one lane.

Damage was also done to council railings and the front garden of a house in Westminster Road.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.

Completely agree with you daveyprick, people go on about young drivers these days, ive seen far more dangerous driving from older drivers, who passed their tests years ago whose reactions etc are no longer sufficient for todays busy road.

davypicko - what an idiotic comment! Very few comments make me angry but you've succeeded where others failed. Why do you automatically assume that the car driver was at fault? Because you are being ageist. Ever heard of Stirling Moss who is in his 80's and until recently was still racing cars? What should older people do then? Sit around their homes waiting to die? I hope that when you reach your 80s things have progressed enough that you don't meet with such prejudical attitudes.

Whether you are safe to drive or not is not automatically linked to your chronological age. Personally I think EVERYBODY should have to take a driving test at least every 5 years to show they are safe to be on the road.
