A WIRRAL man has undergone emergency surgery after being stabbed last night.

The incident happened in Mainwaring Road, Bromborough, at around 7.30pm when a 62-year-old was found with multiple knife wounds to his arms, legs, upper body and face.

His condition today is stable and not life-threatening.

A second man, aged 41, was also found injured nearby outside a house in Hawthorne Road.

He was taken to hospital with a cut to his arm and is now under arrest on suspicion of wounding.

Detectives said they believe the incident occurred at a house on Mainwaring Road and that the two injured people are father and son.

No one else was inside the property at the time.

House to house enquiries have been carried out and witnesses spoken to.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation at this time.

Detective Sergeant Karen Griffiths from Wirral CID said: "We are treating this as a domestic incident which happened inside the family home. No-one else was involved and no-one else has been injured.

“Both men are being cared for in hospital and neither has life-threatening injuries.

"Once they are well enough we will be speaking to both of them as part of our investigation into what happened."
