MORE than 60 new houses could be built on green belt land if Wirral planners give proposals the go-ahead.
Plans to create a housing estate made up of affordable flats and houses have been re-submitted after they were rejected by the council last year.
The scheme, which would involve social housing at Carr Lane, Hoylake, was refused last April due to fears it could change the character of the area.
Among the reasons for refusal were that the development would be “inappropriate” within the green belt and that it would be “detrimental” to the area and the “openness” of the land.
Planners said the project’s “poor design” would not establish “a sense of place” and would not “provide adequate amenity space for a number of residential plots.”
A planning spokesman said the applicant had now changed the design of individual houses and “tweaked the layout”.
Wirral’s planning committee are set to review the plans next month.
