UPTON library will host a festive reading event tonight Wednesday.

Celebrating a year of reading-inspired events, it will run from 6.30pm to 9pm.

During the evening there will be seasonal readings and book discussions, refreshments, live music, a quiz and a raffle. Special guest will be Angela Macmillan of the Reader Organisation.

Avid readers who took part in the ‘Reading Rewards’ scheme will receive their prizes at the event. The competition was organised by Time To Read, the Northwest Reader Development partnership, and involved participants reading up to ten titles from at least six different genres.

Angela Macmillan from the Reader Organisation said: "I'm delighted to have been asked to appear at the Festive Readers Event at the end of such a great year of partnership with Wirral Libraries.

"I will be reading from The Reader Organisation’s anthology, A Little, Aloud, as well as some festive poems to get us in the Christmas spirit."

Tickets, £3, are from all Wirral libraries. For more information, contact Upton Library on 0151 677 5677 or by email at uptonlibrary@wirral.gov.uk
