WEST Wirral Musical Society will take to the stage with Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta Princess Ida next month.
The show, at Westbourne Hall in Westbourne Road, West Kirby, runs from October 8-11.
The story centres around a haughty princess who has walled herself and a troupe of admiring followers in Castle Adamant.
Unfortunately, this causes a problem when the Prince whom Ida was engaged to when they were both babies, wants to marry her.
Numerous complications ensue, involving kidnapping, fighting and also the Prince and two of his friends stealing into Castle Adamant and having to disguise themselves as young ladies!
A spokesman for WWMS said: "The cast are enjoying the witty songs and Kathy Jordan, who is playing Princess Ida, is relishing the challenge of this dramatic part.
"She is also enjoying the opportunity to work with her father Charles Jordan, our excellent Musical Director.”
The group's staging of G&S' largely unknown The Grand Duke earned WWMS a National Operatic and Dramatic Association award for best G&S production in the North West region, so this year they are confidently putting all their talents towards what promises to be a 'funny, stirring and beautifully sung version' of “Princess Ida”.
Tickets are from 0151 625 9053, 0151 342 2393 or wwms.ticketsource.co.uk
