A PICTURE apparently showing Christmas lights in Heswall in a phallus-like arrangement is a FAKE.
The photo shows festive lights, including a candle and baubles, in an unknown location and is being widely circulated online.
Although social media users were quick to poke fun at the display, the lights in Heswall are only due to be switched on this Thursday.
The viral image has cropped up in numerous towns in recent months, with Oswadtwistle in Lancashire and Tallaght in Dublin also being placed in the spotlight.
However, a quick internet search shows the image has been doing the rounds on Reddit for close to a year.
I suspect there'll be a few letters in the Wirral Globe about Heswall's choice of Christmas lights this year... haha pic.twitter.com/KI4PH7agkO

Heswall's real Christmas lights will be switched on this Thursday at 5pm.
A Christingle Service at The Church of the Good Shepherd will kick off the festivities at 4pm and will feature a performance from Heswall Primary Glee Choir.
The lights switch on will take place outside the library, with mulled wine, mince pies and other delights on offer.
Late night shopping will then take place, with a 5% discount at participating stores from 5pm. Late night opening will then take place each Thursday until Christmas.
