A muddled statement from Wirral University Teaching Hospital on parking charges.

They try to make it look as if they have done us motorists a favour and infer that parking charges have been reduced, which in few circumstances they have, but in the majority and more importantly in the case of a longer stay they have substantially increased the parking charges.

Their statement as detailed in the Globe is intended to pull the wool over our eyes and is confusing to many with the introduction of all the different tiers of charges.

So, the latest price hike hitting the motorist in Wirral is from Wirral University Teaching Hospital, in previous weeks from Wirral Council. Car parking charges where there should be none.

To charge to park at a hospital is both immoral and extortionate.

Who in their right mind would ever want to visit a hospital?

Be it if you are ill, or visiting a friend or relative, and then to be charged for the privilege is completely wrong, particularly if you have to visit in the event of an emergency, and with the worry and concern, are then expected to stop and think about where and when you parked your car, they just want to profit from us.

It’s a total disgrace.

It’s also backward thinking, previous medical research shows the advantage both mentally and practical assistance visitors bring to in-patients recovery progress which also relieves the strain on the medical staff and resources alike.

Again, just like Wirral Council thinking about public car park charge hikes and on-road parking charge proposals, not to mention the pathetic rollout of the costly and unnecessary 20mph scheme as I and many others have previously written about, this time it's our Hospitals who are hitting us motorists.

And why do disabled people get free parking?

If it was the other way around it would be called discrimination and an outcry. All the disabled people I have met and know all want to be considered equal, so they should pay equally, not to do so is discrimination against able-bodied people.

Its simple, as charging us to be ill or help those who are, is both immoral, unethical, extortionate, and completely wrong.

Car parking at any medical facility should be free to all. it used to be, so why not now?
