WITH far fewer people still visiting city centres and many people’s working patterns having changed permanently, any increase in the current tunnel tolls would be yet another disincentive to travel to Liverpool city centre, in addition to the extortionate cost of car parking.
Mersey Tunnels are another public body totally out of touch with reality.
The first rule of economics is that increasing price reduces demand. Mersey Tunnels don’t seem to grasp this.
If they want to save money they should contract out the tunnel recovery service and get rid of the Tunnel Police who have the cushiest job on the planet.
