ANOTHER year and doubtless everyone is hoping for a better one than the previous two.

We have all had enough of the pandemic and want to move forward with our lives.

Looking forward to happier days is natural but for those living with life-limiting illnesses, such as Motor Neurone Disease, the future is sadly precarious.

A cure needs to be found for this cruel disease and the MND Association was delighted late last year when the government agreed to invest £50m over five years for targeted research to discover effective treatments.

But that does not mean that money is no longer needed to help those living with this terminal illness - the need remains strong, particularly as six people are diagnosed with it every day in this country.

As well as money for research into all aspects of the disease, cash is always needed to help provide assistance with every day living for those diagnosed with it, such as home adaptations, both big and small.

People on the Wirral have always been generous with their donations for this worthy cause and I trust that in 2022 that same kind-hearted spirit will continue.

Anyone seeking information about donations, fund raising or joining the Wirral MNDA team can find it on our website at https://mndawirral.org or by contacting me on 07836 635280.
